Compact Business Desktop

The HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB solid-state drive. A 24-inch IPS monitor at 1920 x 1080 resolution, keyboard and mouse are included. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment in office environments.

Thermals Noise Power

The 65 W processor runs within a small form factor chassis designed for quiet office operation. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics eliminate the heat and noise of a discrete card during typical productivity workloads. A DVD-ROM drive and USB Wi-Fi/Bluetooth dongle add functionality without increasing thermal load significantly.

Upgrade Path Limits

This system replaces ageing desktops that still rely on mechanical hard drives or dual-core processors. The jump is worth it when moving from spinning disks to solid-state responsiveness and from four threads to six. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance, expandable PCIe slots or memory beyond 32 GB should consider larger chassis platforms.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 16 GB DDR4 memory in the SFF chassis, and what step is often missed?

Open the small-form-factor case, align the 240-pin DDR4 UDIMM with the slot notch, press firmly until the retention clips click, then verify 16 GB appears in BIOS before closing the cover.

Which component will need replacement first, and what is its rated capacity?

The 2.5-inch 1 TB solid-state drive has a finite write endurance; plan to replace it once its SMART health indicators approach the rated terabytes-written limit.

What thermal limit appears first during sustained loads on the i5-8500?

The 65 W processor will hit its 4.1 GHz turbo ceiling and then throttle to maintain the 65 W TDP, so sustained multi-core speeds settle at the 3.0 GHz base frequency.
