Compact Business Desktop

The HP EliteDesk 800 G5 is a mini desktop built around a 6-core Intel Core i5-9500T running at 2.2 GHz up to 3.7 GHz. It ships with Windows 11 Pro, 8 GB of DDR4-2666 memory and a 256 GB NVMe SSD, targeting office workers and students who need a small, quiet system for everyday productivity.

Connections and Daily Use

A 65 W external power adapter keeps the chassis compact and the desk tidy. Front and rear panels provide a headphone jack and a headset connector for calls or media. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives displays through the available video outputs without a discrete card. The mini form factor fits behind a monitor or in tight spaces.

The Deciding Specification

The single 256 GB NVMe drive sets the storage ceiling; there is no secondary drive bay or hard drive installed. Buyers who need more local capacity for large files or multiple applications will have to add external storage or replace the drive. The 8 GB DDR4 configuration also limits multitasking headroom for heavier workloads.

Questions about this item

Does the PCIe NVMe interface on the 256 GB SSD cap real-world throughput?

The 256 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD runs at the speed of its controller and the x4 lane limit; the platform does not impose an extra bottleneck.

What physical space and power does the Mini chassis require for the 65 W external adapter?

The 65 W external power adapter plugs into the barrel jack on the rear; the Mini footprint is small enough to mount behind a monitor with a VESA bracket.

How is Windows 11 Pro installed on this EliteDesk 800 G5, and what step do people miss?

Windows 11 Pro ships pre-installed; the step users miss is completing the out-of-box experience and running Windows Update before joining a domain.
