Business desktop with hexa-core i5

The HP EliteDesk 800G4 is a compact business desktop built around an Intel Core i5-8500 processor running at 3.2GHz with six cores. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 250GB solid-state drive as the primary boot device. Windows 11 Professional is pre-installed, making it ready for office productivity, web browsing and multimedia streaming out of the box.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

Integrated Intel HD 630 graphics handle display output without a discrete card, keeping power draw and heat low during typical workloads. The small form factor runs quietly thanks to the efficient hexa-core CPU and solid-state storage, which eliminates mechanical drive noise. Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide flexible connectivity for wired or wireless networks.

Upgrade path from older office PCs

This system replaces ageing dual-core or quad-core desktops that struggle with modern multitasking and 4K video playback. The jump is worth it when moving from 8GB of memory and a hard drive to 16GB DDR4 and SSD storage, cutting boot and application load times. Buyers who need discrete graphics, multiple high-speed storage bays or more than 64GB of memory should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I add the 250GB SSD to the HP EliteDesk 800G4 desktop and what BIOS step is often missed?

Fit the 250GB SSD into an empty drive bay, connect data and power cables, then enter BIOS and set the boot order so Windows 11 Pro loads from the new drive.

What memory upgrade will the 800G4 need later and what is the ceiling?

The system uses DDR4 modules and supports a maximum of 64GB, so adding matched sticks up to that limit is the only future RAM work required.

Which component hits its limit first during long multi-tasking sessions on this i5-8500 unit?

The integrated Intel HD 630 graphics shares system memory, so heavy visual workloads will exhaust the 16GB DDR4 pool before the six-core processor reaches its ceiling.
