Purpose-built cash drawer

The HP FK182AA is a standard-duty cash drawer designed for point-of-sale environments. It provides five bill compartments and five coin compartments in a black finish. The unit includes a set of two keys for secure locking. Dimensions are 16.00 x 16.70 x 4.90 inches.

Connection interface limits

The drawer connects to a host system via an RJ45-to-RJ12 cable. This interface requires a compatible powered port on the POS terminal or receipt printer to trigger the solenoid. Cable length and port power delivery are determined by the host device, not the drawer itself.

Pre-installation checks

Verify that your HP POS system or printer has an available RJ12 cash-drawer port before ordering. Confirm the physical space matches the 16 x 16.7 x 4.9 in footprint. Ensure the host can supply the correct signal voltage for the drawer mechanism.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 5 bill and 5 coin tray or a different compartment layout?

This drawer only ships with the 5 bill and 5 coin tray; no other compartment configurations are offered.

What does the 16 x 16.7 x 4.9 in footprint mean for my counter space?

It needs a surface at least 16 inches wide by 16.7 inches deep with 4.9 inches of vertical clearance.

How does the RJ45 to RJ12 cable limit which POS systems I can plug into?

The drawer connects through an RJ45 port on the unit and an RJ12 plug on the cable, so it works with HP rp5800 and other HP POS systems that have a matching RJ12 receipt-printer port.
