HP FlexFabric 12916 Fabric Module

The HP FlexFabric 12916 Type B Fabric Module is a new switch component designed for the FlexFabric 12916 chassis. It provides the core switching fabric required to interconnect line cards within the system. Network architects and data-centre engineers deploy this module to build the internal connectivity foundation for high-density enterprise and service-provider environments.

6.14Tbps switching capacity

This module delivers 6.14Tbps of total fabric bandwidth across the chassis midplane. That capacity supports heavy east-west traffic patterns and large virtualised workloads without oversubscription at the fabric layer. The limit is reached when aggregate throughput across all installed line cards exceeds the 6.14Tbps ceiling, requiring additional chassis or a higher-capacity fabric generation to scale further.

Questions about this item

Will the 6.14Tbps Type B Fabric Module JG636A fit into my existing HP FlexFabric 12916 chassis alongside older fabric modules?

The JG636A is a Type B fabric module built for the HP FlexFabric 12916 chassis; it occupies a fabric slot and delivers 6.14Tbps capacity, so it installs in the same chassis slots as earlier fabric modules for that platform.

How can I confirm the JG636A fabric module is operating at its 6.14Tbps rating after installation in the 12916?

After seating the module, check the chassis CLI or management interface for the fabric module status — it should show "Online" or "Active" with the Type B module recognized at full 6.14Tbps capacity and no alarm indicators on the front panel.
