HP G4 ProDesk Gaming Desktop

This HP G4 ProDesk tower ships new with an Intel Core i5-8500 six-core processor, 16GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB SSD. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER graphics card provides 6GB DDR6 video memory for 1080p gaming. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed and a wired keyboard and mouse are included.

Sustained load behaviour

The i5-8500 runs at a 3.0 GHz base clock and can boost to 4.10 GHz across its six cores when thermals allow. The GTX 1660 SUPER maintains its boost clocks during extended sessions thanks to the tower chassis airflow. The 1TB SSD keeps game assets streaming without the latency spikes seen on mechanical drives.

Upgrade perspective

This system replaces an older office tower or entry-level pre-built that relies on integrated graphics or a four-core CPU. The jump is worth it when you need 1080p gaming performance and 16GB DDR4 for multitasking in a single package. Buyers who want more storage than 1TB or a newer GPU architecture should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the GTX 1660 SUPER add when the system runs all day?

The GTX 1660 SUPER is a 6 GB DDR6 card that draws moderate power; the tower chassis uses standard airflow to keep temperatures and fan noise at typical desktop levels during extended sessions.

Which wired peripherals and display cables do I already need to start using the PC?

A wired keyboard and mouse are included in the box; you only need a monitor with a DisplayPort or HDMI input and the matching cable to get video output.

Can I keep my older DDR4 memory sticks and add them to the four slots alongside the installed 16 GB?

Yes, the board supports up to 64 GB of DDR4, so existing DDR4 modules can be added to the free slots as long as they match the speed and voltage of the installed kit.
