HP GH40L 16X SATA DVDRW Drive

This HP GH40L is a 16X SATA internal DVD writer that supports dual-layer recording and LightScribe labelling. It is suited for servers or workstations that still require optical media for software installation, data archiving or disc authoring. The drive writes standard DVD±R/RW and CD-R/RW formats at up to 16X speed. LightScribe lets you etch labels directly onto compatible discs without a separate printer.

Check SATA port and bay clearance before ordering

Verify that your server chassis has an available 5.25 inch half-height bay and a free SATA data connector on the motherboard or RAID controller. Ensure the power supply provides a standard SATA power plug for the drive. Systems that only offer M.2 or U.2 slots cannot accommodate this internal optical drive. Buyers who need Blu-ray writing or external USB connectivity should look for a different model.

Questions about this item

Does the HP GH40L drive ship with cables or mounting brackets included?

The listing describes the drive only; SATA data and power cables plus any mounting hardware must be sourced separately.

Should I choose the 16× write-speed model or the 40× read-speed variant?

This single model delivers both 16× DVD write speed and 40× CD read speed, so no separate version selection is needed.
