A single-port Gigabit PoE injector delivering power and data over one RJ-45 link for WLAN access points where a multiport PoE switch is unnecessary
The HP J9407B delivers power and data over a single Gigabit Ethernet cable to compatible wireless access points. It suits installations where a multi-port PoE switch is not required or available. The unit supports IEEE 802.11n devices such as the MSM310, MSM313, MSM320, MSM325, MSM335 and MSM710 series. It simplifies cabling for ceiling or wall-mounted access point deployments.
The injector accepts AC input from 100 V to 240 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz without active cooling. Fanless design ensures silent operation in office or classroom environments. Compliance with FCC Class B, EN 55022 Class B, CISPR 22, EN 55024, EN 60950 and UL 60950 confirms low electromagnetic emissions and electrical safety. Power consumption remains modest during normal access point loads.
One RJ-45 Gigabit LAN port provides both data connectivity and PoE power output. The device frees up switch ports by powering a single access point directly from a mains outlet. It requires a standard AC power socket near the installation point. Builders needing to power multiple access points simultaneously should consider a multi-port PoE switch instead.

Plug the switch into the injector LAN port with a Cat5e or better cable, then run a second cable from the injector PoE port to the access point; the step often missed is verifying that the AP supports 802.11n PoE before powering on.
No moving parts or filters exist; only occasional visual checks of the RJ-45 ports for dust or bent pins and confirmation that the AC inlet remains clear are required.
The single-port design means the 15 W PoE budget and the 100-240 V AC input rating set the thermal and current ceiling before any data throughput constraint.
