Aruba Instant On 1960 24G 2XGT 2SFP+ Switch

The Aruba Instant On 1960 is a managed Layer 2 Ethernet switch with 24 Gigabit RJ-45 ports, two 10 Gigabit RJ-45 uplinks and two 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplink slots. It supports twisted pair and optical fibre media for flexible small-business networking.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This switch fits small businesses that need a stackable, manageable Gigabit access layer with 10 Gigabit uplinks for servers or aggregation. Buyers who require Layer 3 routing, Power over Ethernet or more than two 10 Gigabit uplink slots should consider other models.

Build integration: uplinks, stacking and power

Two 10GBase-T and two SFP+ uplinks provide copper or fibre aggregation without using front-panel ports. A dedicated stack port allows multiple units to operate as a single logical switch. The internal power supply removes the need for an external adapter.

Questions about this item

What type of SFP+ modules do I need for the two 10G uplink ports?

The switch provides two SFP+ slots for 10GBase-X fibre uplinks; choose compatible 10G SFP+ transceivers and matching fibre patch cords.

Will my existing Cat5e patch cables work with the 24 Gigabit RJ-45 ports?

Yes, the 24 ports support 10/100/1000Base-T, so Cat5e or better twisted-pair cables will negotiate Gigabit speeds.

Which front-panel LEDs confirm the 10G uplinks are active after I insert the SFP+ modules?

Each SFP+ port has a link/activity LED that lights solid when a 10G link is established and blinks during data traffic.
