Dual-band wireless access point supporting 802.11 ax with 5.95 Gbit/s throughput, 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports and PoE power
The HP JZ357A Aruba 550 AP-555 is a wireless access point built for campus environments. It supports the 802.11 ax standard across 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz bands with a maximum wireless transmission speed of 5.95 Gbit/s. MIMO and beamforming technologies are included to improve signal quality and coverage. The unit is designed for wall, ceiling or rail mounting.
This access point fits organisations that require 5 Gigabit Ethernet wired backhaul and Power over Ethernet powered-device support. The dual RJ-45 ports and USB interface allow flexible wired connectivity. Buyers needing outdoor-rated enclosures or integrated controller hardware should consider other product lines because this model is intended for indoor campus use only.
The package includes hardware for wall, ceiling or rail mounting so the same unit adapts to different ceiling types without extra brackets. PoE PD support means the AP draws power from the network switch, removing the need for a local power outlet. A USB port is available for adding IoT radios or other peripherals later.

The access point has a PoE PD port, so it draws power from a PoE-capable switch or injector that supplies enough wattage over the Ethernet cable.
It provides two 5 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports, so linking to a 1 GbE switch works but limits the uplink to 1 GbE while the AP itself supports up to 5 GbE.
The management interface shows active radios and their channel assignments; seeing a 5 GHz channel listed means the 5 GHz radio is functioning.
