HP LaserJet Enterprise 6701dn Overview

The HP LaserJet Enterprise 6701dn is a colour laser printer designed for busy workgroups that need fast output. It prints up to 65 ppm in both black and colour with a 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. A 5.9 second first-page-out time keeps queues moving. The unit weighs 68.5000 lb and carries part number 58M42ABGJ.

Compatibility and Cartridge Requirements

Verify that your workstations run Windows 11, Windows 10, macOS 12 Monterey, macOS 11 Big Sur, macOS 10.15 Catalina, Linux, Chrome OS, Android or iOS. The printer only accepts cartridges with a new or reused HP chip; firmware updates will block cartridges using non-HP chips. Network connectivity must be available for wireless and cloud-connected HP Workpath app features.

Suitability and Limitations

This model suits offices that need high-volume colour printing with strong security controls and customisable workflow apps. Buyers who want a printer that works with third-party toner chips should look elsewhere. Teams requiring a lighter device or lower print speeds may prefer a different class of machine.

Questions about this item

Does the HP LaserJet Enterprise 6701dn ship with toner cartridges or do I need to order them separately?

The printer includes initial toner cartridges in the box; replacement cartridges are purchased separately when they run low.

Should I choose the 58M42ABGJ model or a different capacity for a workgroup printing around 65 ppm in colour?

The 58M42ABGJ delivers up to 65 ppm in both black and colour, matching that workload without needing a higher-capacity variant.

What does the 5.9-second first-page-out time mean when the printer is used for short jobs throughout the day?

It means the first page of each job appears in about 5.9 seconds, so short runs start quickly with minimal waiting.
