Enterprise monochrome laser printer

The HP LaserJet Enterprise 8501dn is a monochrome laser printer built for high-volume office environments. It prints up to 70 ppm and supports automatic duplex printing. Maximum paper capacity reaches 2180 sheets across multiple trays. The unit includes Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet and USB connectivity. It is rated for a duty cycle of 250000 pages per month. FCC Class A emissions mean it is intended for commercial settings.

Installation notes

The package contains the printer, installation guide, regulatory flyer, power cords and manual. Wired and wireless network setup is handled through the control panel or HP software. Dynamic security is enabled, so only HP-approved toner cartridges will function. Firmware updates may restrict third-party supplies after installation. Ensure the printer is placed on a stable surface that can support its weight and allow access to all trays.

Pre-purchase checks

Verify that your office network supports Gigabit Ethernet or the Wi-Fi standards used by the printer. Confirm that your print management software is compatible with HP enterprise devices. The printer outputs up to 11x17 inch pages, so check that your workflows require this format. FCC Class A rating means it is not certified for residential use. Dynamic security will prevent non-HP toner from working.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the printer is operating at its rated 70 ppm after setup?

Print a multi-page test document and time the output; the engine should deliver up to 70 mono pages per minute once warmed up.

What comes in the box and which consumables or trays must be purchased separately?

The box includes the 8501dn printer, installation guide, regulatory flyer, power cords and manual; toner cartridges and extra 520-sheet trays are sold separately.

Which paper-capacity configuration suits a department printing 250,000 pages per month?

The standard 2,180-sheet input (2 × 520-sheet trays plus multipurpose) supports that duty cycle; add optional trays only if you need larger uninterrupted runs.
