HP LaserJet Pro M428FDN mono MFP

The HP LaserJet Pro M428FDN is a monochrome multifunction laser printer built for small offices. It prints, scans, copies and faxes at speeds up to 40 pages per minute. A 2.7 inch colour touchscreen and dual-band Wi-Fi simplify daily workflow. The 350-sheet input tray and 50-sheet automatic document feeder handle medium-volume tasks.

Suited for monochrome office workflows

This device fits teams that need fast black-and-white output with automatic two-sided printing and scanning. Mobile printing via Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Mopria and HP ePrint supports flexible working. Buyers who need colour output or higher paper capacity should consider other models.

40 ppm mono print speed

The headline specification is the 40 pages per minute monochrome print and copy rate. Combined with a 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution and an 80,000-page monthly duty cycle, it defines the productivity ceiling for this unit.

M428FDN connectivity and paper handling

Dual-band Wi-Fi, USB host port and HP Smart App compatibility cover most modern office setups. The 350-sheet main tray plus 50-sheet ADF support automatic duplex scanning and copying up to 8.5 x 14 inches.

Questions about this item

What maximum print speed does the wireless interface support on the HP LaserJet Pro M428FDN?

The wireless connection handles the same 40 ppm black print speed as the wired interfaces, so duplex and simplex jobs run at full rated throughput.

What paper sizes and tray capacity does the M428FDN need to fit in an office cabinet?

It accepts up to 8.5 x 14 in media, has a 350-sheet main tray and a 50-sheet ADF, and measures roughly 428 mm wide, so allow that clearance plus space for the output bin.

How is the M428FDN set up for Wi-Fi, and which step is often missed?

Use the 2.7 in colour touchscreen to join the dual-band network, then install the HP Smart app on each device; the step people skip is printing the wireless test report to confirm the link before sending jobs.
