HP LaserJet Pro M521DN multifunction printer

This monochrome laser multifunction printer prints, copies, scans and faxes at up to 42 pages per minute with a 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. It includes a new generic toner cartridge rated for 12500 pages and supports automatic duplex printing. A 650-sheet input capacity and Ethernet connectivity suit shared office environments. The unit is new and restored to OEM specifications.

Suits offices needing fast monochrome output

Teams that require colour printing, wireless connectivity or higher copy resolution should consider other models. The fax modem operates at 33.6 kbps, which may not meet specialised telephony needs. Buyers wanting a compact desktop device will find the 650-sheet capacity excessive. No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interfaces are provided.

1200 x 1200 dpi print resolution decides suitability

This resolution determines the sharpness of text and fine graphics for professional documents. If your workflow demands higher detail for photographic reproduction, this specification will not meet that requirement. The 42 ppm speed supports high-volume queues, but resolution remains the key quality metric.

Questions about this item

How do I install the HP LaserJet Pro M521DN and what step is often missed?

Connect the supplied power and Ethernet cables, then install the CE255X toner cartridge by opening the front cover and sliding it in until it clicks; the step users skip is removing the orange protective tape from the new cartridge before insertion.

Which parts will need replacement on the HP LaserJet Pro M521DN and when?

The CE255X toner cartridge yields about 12500 pages; the ADF pickup rollers and fuser assembly typically require service after high-volume use, while the 90-day depot warranty covers early hardware faults.

What limit appears first during sustained printing on the HP LaserJet Pro M521DN?

The 650-sheet input tray empties before the 42 ppm engine overheats, so large jobs need frequent paper refills; duplex printing halves the effective throughput for double-sided documents.
