Professional mobile workstation

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch laptop built for professionals who need a durable, portable Windows 10 device. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor at 2.4 GHz with 8GB of DDR3L 1600 memory and a 128 GB SSD. The non-touch display offers a 1366 x 768 resolution driven by integrated Intel HD Graphics.

Essential connectivity and security included

The chassis provides VGA, DisplayPort, RJ-45, USB and USB-C ports plus enterprise docking support. A built-in webcam enables video calls. Security features include a SmartCard reader, TPM and HP Sure Start with Dynamic Protection for BIOS-level defence. An optional fingerprint reader adds multifactor authentication.

Straightforward deployment for IT teams

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed so the laptop is ready for domain join and standard management tools. The 18.9 mm profile fits common business bags and docks. Questions about this item

Will the 128 GB SSD need replacing if I store large project files locally?

The 128 GB SSD is the only internal drive, so capacity is fixed at 128 GB. Adding files beyond that limit requires external storage or cloud sync.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i5-6300U runs at 2.4 GHz continuously?

The dual-core Core i5-6300U throttles when its package temperature reaches the Intel-defined maximum, reducing clock speed to stay within thermal design power.

How loud is the fan and how hot does the 14.0 inch chassis get during an all-day workload?

The 18.9 mm thin chassis uses a single fan that becomes audible under sustained load; the keyboard deck and bottom surface grow warm but remain within normal operating temperatures.
