16-inch 240 Hz gaming laptop

The HP OMEN pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU for high-frame-rate play and demanding creative workloads. A 16.0-inch WQXGA IPS panel covers 100 percent sRGB at 500 nits and refreshes from 60 to 240 Hz with a 3 ms response time. Windows 11 Home ships pre-installed.

64 GB DDR5 and 1 TB NVMe SSD

Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR5 memory gives ample headroom for multitasking, streaming and memory-heavy titles without paging. The 1 TB PCIe NVMe drive loads large game libraries and project files quickly, though very large AAA collections will eventually require external storage.

Thermals, noise and power in normal use

An 83 Wh 6-cell battery powers the system away from the wall, while the 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard stays visible in low light. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 handle wireless peripherals and network play. The chassis measures 15.7 by 10.87 by 0.99 inches and weighs 7.05 lbs.

Questions about this item

Will my older USB 5Gbps Type-A mouse and keyboard work with the two 5Gbps Type-A ports on this laptop?

Yes, the two USB Type-A ports rated at 5Gbps signalling rate are fully backward-compatible with your existing USB mouse and keyboard.

How can I verify the 240Hz panel is actually running at 240Hz after I set up Windows 11 Home?

Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and confirm the refresh-rate dropdown shows 240 Hz for the 16" WQXGA screen.

Does the box include a USB-C to HDMI adapter for a second monitor, or do I need to buy one separately?

The laptop has a built-in HDMI 2.1 port and a USB-C port with DisplayPort 1.4, so no adapter is required for a second display.
