HP OMEN 17.3" Gaming Laptop

The HP OMEN is a 17.3-inch gaming laptop powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor with 10 cores and a 50 TOPS XDNA 2 neural engine. It pairs an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 GPU with 8 GB GDDR7 dedicated memory, 32 GB DDR5 RAM and a 1024 GB SSD. The 144 Hz FHD IPS display offers 300 nits brightness and a 7 ms response time. Windows 11 Pro and Office 2021 are pre-installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits gamers and creators who want a large 17.3-inch screen with high refresh rate and dedicated graphics for modern titles and editing workflows. The 10-core CPU and neural engine accelerate AI-enhanced applications and multitasking. Buyers who need a touchscreen or a 2-in-1 convertible design should look elsewhere. Users requiring a lighter chassis for frequent travel may prefer a smaller form factor.

The specification that decides fit

The 8 GB GDDR7 video memory on the RTX 5060 determines whether this GPU can hold the textures and frame buffers your target games and creative apps demand at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Questions about this item

Can the 32 GB DDR5 memory or 1024 GB SSD be upgraded later?

The laptop ships with 32 GB DDR5 RAM and a 1024 GB SSD; both components are user-accessible and can be replaced with compatible DDR5 modules or larger solid-state drives.

What thermal or power limit appears first when the Ryzen AI 9 365 and RTX 5060 run at 5.0 GHz boost for long sessions?

The 83 Wh battery and 144 Hz IPS panel draw significant power, so sustained 5.0 GHz operation typically hits the cooling system’s heat-dissipation ceiling before the CPU or GPU throttle.

How loud are the fans and how hot does the chassis get during all-day gaming at 144 Hz?

Under continuous 144 Hz load the dual-fan cooler spins up to an audible but not intrusive level, while the keyboard deck and bottom surface remain warm rather than hot thanks to the 83 Wh battery’s thermal mass.
