17.3" FHD 144 Hz Gaming Laptop

The HP OMEN 17 pairs a 17.3 inch FHD display running at 144 Hz with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 10-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR5 memory and a four-terabyte PCIe SSD provide capacity for large game libraries and creative workloads. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Thermals, Noise and Power Draw

The chassis measures 15.65 by 10.94 by 1.08 inches and weighs 6.51 pounds, giving the cooling system room to manage the 10-core CPU and RTX 5060 GPU. Fan behaviour will scale with load, so expect lower noise during light tasks and higher airflow during sustained gaming. The 2.00 GHz base clock and 5.0 GHz boost define the processor power envelope.

Ports, Connectivity and Input Features

Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports at 10 Gbps, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port with power-off charging, an RJ-45 jack and an HDMI 2.1 output cover external displays and wired networking. MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 handle wireless links. A full-size single-zone RGB backlit keyboard with numpad and a 1080p FHD IR camera complete the package.

Questions about this item

How do I install the DDR5 memory upgrade, and what step causes problems?

The laptop ships with 64GB of DDR5 4800 memory already installed across two slots; to add more you must remove the bottom panel, release the retention clips, insert the new modules at the correct angle until they click, then reseat the panel — the step most people skip is pressing both ends firmly until the clips lock.

What maintenance or replacement will the RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 graphics need later?

The RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be swapped; long-term care is limited to keeping the cooling vents clear and replacing thermal paste if temperatures rise after several years.

Which limit appears first during sustained gaming on the 17.3" 144 Hz FHD display?

The GPU's 8GB GDDR7 frame buffer fills before the 144 Hz panel or the Ryzen AI 9 365 processor become bottlenecks, so texture-heavy titles hit memory capacity first.
