Ready for daily work

The HP OmniBook 3 17t-dk000 is a 17.3 inch laptop built around an Intel Core 5 120U processor with 10 cores and 12 threads. It ships with 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The FHD touchscreen uses an IPS panel rated at 300 nits and 62.5% sRGB coverage. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Thermals and battery

A 3-cell 41 Wh polymer battery powers the system. The slim 0.65 inch chassis relies on passive and low-speed active cooling for the processor and integrated Intel Graphics. Under typical office loads the fan stays quiet and surface temperatures remain comfortable. Heavy sustained workloads will raise fan speed and warmth.

What the extras add

A full-size backlit keyboard with numeric keypad supports long typing sessions in low light. The 1080p FHD IR camera includes HDR auto switching and temporal noise reduction for clearer video calls. Dual-array digital microphones capture voice accurately. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 provide modern wireless connectivity.

Questions about this item

How do I install the DDR5 memory and what step do people get wrong?

The memory is soldered on the board and not user-replaceable, so the step people get wrong is trying to open the chassis to add a module.

What maintenance or replacement will the battery need later?

The 41 Wh Li-ion polymer battery is internal; replacement requires disassembly and is typically done when run time drops below your needs.

What limit shows up first under sustained heavy workloads?

The Intel Core 5 120U processor throttles to stay within its thermal envelope once the cooling system saturates during prolonged loads.
