Convert analog phones to IP

The Poly ATA 400 connects one analog telephone or fax machine to a VoIP network through a single FXS port. It is designed for small offices or home workers who need to keep existing handsets while moving to SIP-based calling. The device requires a Polycom Device Management Service for Service Providers account for cloud configuration.

One Ethernet port limits placement

A single RJ-45 jack provides the only wired network link, so the unit must sit near a switch or router unless a separate USB Wi-Fi adapter is purchased. The USB 2.0 Type-A port supports that adapter or storage media but does not add a second wired uplink. Power comes from an external 5 V 1 A adapter that accepts 100–240 V AC.

One FXS port decides fit

Only one analog device can register per gateway, so each phone or fax line needs its own ATA 400. The unit handles SIPv2 signalling and T.38 fax relay for that single line. Buyers who want more simultaneous analog ports need additional gateways.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the single FXS port model or a multi-port version?

This unit provides exactly one FXS port for connecting one analog phone or fax device.

What does the SIPv2 support with four ITSP profiles mean for daily use?

You can register the gateway with up to four different SIP service providers simultaneously for call routing flexibility.

How does the single RJ-45 Ethernet port limit network connectivity?

The lone RJ-45 port handles all wired LAN traffic; adding Wi-Fi requires a separate USB 2.0 adapter for wireless VoIP access.
