What this calculator is and who it serves

The HP Prime is a graphing calculator with a 3.5 inch multi-touch TFT display, 256 MB flash memory and 32 MB mDDR. It targets students and professionals who need symbolic, graphical and numerical table views for math, science and engineering work.

Practical limits of the interface

The 320 x 240 resolution and 10 display lines with 33 characters per line restrict the detail shown in complex graphs or long expressions. The touch screen supports direct manipulation but offers no external video output, so all work stays on the device.

Installation and common issues

The unit ships with a USB cable, USB power supply and CD disk for PC connectivity and charging the rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Driver or software conflicts on the host computer are the most frequent setup problem, while the auto shut-off feature can interrupt long sessions if not adjusted.
