14-inch FHD business ultrabook

The HP ProBook 640 G5 is a 14-inch Full HD laptop built for mobile professionals who need a reliable Windows 11 Pro machine. It combines an Intel Core i7-8650U processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB SSD for responsive everyday performance. The IPS panel delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles standard office visuals.

Upgrade from dual-core or 8 GB systems

This configuration replaces older dual-core ultrabooks or models limited to 8 GB RAM and smaller SATA drives. The quad-core i7-8650U with 6 MB cache and 32 GB memory makes the jump worthwhile when multitasking across browser tabs, Office apps and video calls. The 1 TB SSD eliminates the need for external storage juggling. Buyers who need discrete graphics or user-replaceable memory should look elsewhere.

Sustained office workloads on integrated graphics

Under continuous load the U-series chip settles to its efficient thermal envelope while the 620 graphics share system memory. The single 512 GB M.2 slot alongside the 1 TB drive means storage expansion requires cloning or external drives. Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.1 maintain stable connections during long sessions. The silver aluminium chassis dissipates heat passively across the palm rest during extended use.

Questions about this item

Which drive bays or slots accept the 1 TB SSD and the 512 GB M.2 module in the ProBook 640 G5?

The laptop includes one 2.5-inch SATA bay for the 1 TB drive and one M.2 slot that supports the 512 GB module, both accessible after removing the bottom cover.

What is the common mistake when reinstalling Windows 11 Pro on this unit?

Users often skip the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver, so the installer does not detect the M.2 SSD until the driver is loaded from a USB stick.

Which components are likely to need replacement after several years of daily use?

The 32 GB DDR4 memory is soldered and not replaceable; the 1 TB SATA SSD and 512 GB M.2 drive are user-replaceable, and the internal battery will eventually require service.
