1U rack server with dual 10-core Xeon CPUs, 64GB DDR4 and two 500GB SATA drives on B140i RAID
Installed Memory Size 64GB
HDD 2 x 500GB
The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 is a 1U rackmount server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processors, each providing ten cores at 2.3 GHz. It includes 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory distributed across 16 DIMM slots. Two 500 GB 7.2K SATA drives are installed in the eight-bay SFF chassis, managed by the B140i software RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1 and 5. Redundant hot-swap 550 W power supplies are fitted.
This configuration targets environments that need high core density and large memory capacity in a single rack unit, such as virtualization hosts, database nodes or high-performance computing clusters. The 64 GB installed matches the processor-limited maximum, so buyers who need more memory per socket cannot expand further on this platform. Organisations requiring hardware RAID with cache protection or dedicated GPU acceleration for compute tasks should evaluate alternative systems.
The integrated B140i controller provides RAID 0, 1 and 5 functionality exclusively for SATA devices; it does not support SAS or other drive interfaces for array creation. This constraint defines the storage architecture: only the installed SATA drives or additional SATA SSDs and HDDs can participate in hardware-assisted redundancy. If the deployment requires SAS-based RAID arrays or mixed-interface storage pools, a different controller or server model must be selected.

Other versions of this model
The chassis occupies 1U of rack height and ships with a 550W redundant hot-swap power supply, so a standard rack cabinet and matching PDU are required.
The B140i Software RAID supports SATA only and offers RAID 0, 1, 5; it cannot address SAS drives, so older SAS media would need a separate controller.
Check the BIOS or iLO interface: it should show 2 processors, 20 physical cores (40 threads with hyper-threading) and 64GB DDR4 running up to 2400MT/s per the processor capability.
