This 1U rack server ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2643v3 six-core processors at 3.4GHz and 16GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. It targets organisations that need dense compute for virtualisation, databases or high-performance workloads in space-constrained racks. Redundant hot-swap power supplies and an H240ar SAS RAID controller support continuous operation. The eight-bay SFF chassis accepts 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives.

Upgrade from single-socket or lower-core servers

Moving from a single-processor system or quad-core Xeons adds 12 physical cores and 24 threads, which benefits multi-threaded applications and higher VM density. The jump is worth it when workloads scale across cores and memory bandwidth matters. The installed 146GB 15K SAS drives provide low-latency storage for OS or transaction logs. RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are supported on the H240ar controller.

Check rack depth, power cords and memory expansion

Verify that your rack accommodates the 1U height and provides sufficient depth for cabling and airflow. Confirm the facility supplies the correct IEC connectors for the dual 500W redundant supplies. The system has 24 DIMM slots with 16GB populated; additional DDR4 registered ECC modules up to 64GB each can be added per processor capability. No operating system is included.
