A 1U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2643 v3 CPUs, 8 GB DDR4, and two 146 GB 15K SAS drives on an H240ar controller
This HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 is a 1U rack server system built for dense compute environments. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2643 v3 processors running at 3.4 GHz, delivering 12 physical cores and 24 threads for multi-threaded workloads. The platform includes 8 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and a Smart HBA H240ar controller managing two 146 GB 15K SAS drives. Redundant hot-swap 500 W power supplies are installed.
The dual six-core CPUs at 3.4 GHz suit virtualisation clusters, database nodes or HPC tasks that favour single-thread speed over maximum core count. Buyers who want more storage capacity than two 146 GB drives provide should look elsewhere, as the 8-bay chassis is only partially populated. Workloads requiring GPU acceleration will not be served by the integrated Matrox G200 graphics. Organisations needing an operating system pre-installed must arrange that separately.
The server provides 24 DDR4 DIMM slots, 12 per processor, with a maximum supported capacity of 3 TB using ECC registered modules up to 2400 MT/s. Only 8 GB is installed from the factory, so memory expansion is the primary upgrade path. The H240ar controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across SAS and SATA drives. Eight 2.5-inch SFF bays are available for additional storage.

During POST the H240ar option ROM initialises and displays the firmware version. The iLO 4 health view then shows the controller status as OK, both SAS ports linked at 12 Gbps, and the two 146 GB 15 K drives present with no media errors.
Included: 1U chassis, dual E5-2643 v3 CPUs, 8 GB DDR4, two 146 GB 15 K 2.5" SAS drives in trays, H240ar controller, dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies, Matrox G200 graphics, iLO 4, rail kit. Not included: OS licence, additional DDR4 DIMMs up to 24 slots, extra SAS/SATA drives, optional universal media bay or two extra SFF bays.
Populate all 24 DIMM slots evenly — 12 per CPU — using identical DDR4 ECC registered modules (4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB) rated up to 2400 MT/s; the platform supports a maximum of 3 TB total when fully populated.
