1U rack server with dual 12-core Xeon E5-2670 v3 processors at 2.3GHz, 64GB DDR4, two 146GB 15K SAS drives and H240ar RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 64GB
HDD 2 x 146GB
This HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 is a 1U rack server system built for dense compute. It ships with two Xeon E5-2670 v3 processors, each offering twelve cores at 2.3GHz, and 64GB of DDR4 memory across the 24 DIMM slots. The Smart HBA H240ar controller manages the two installed 146GB SAS drives and supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60. Redundant hot-swap 500W power supplies are included.
The dual twelve-core CPUs give 24 physical cores and 48 threads, fitting hypervisor workloads that value thread count over single-thread speed. The 24 DDR4 slots allow memory growth up to the platform limit, and the eight SFF bays plus the H240ar controller support mixed SAS and SATA drives. Buyers who need GPU acceleration, more than eight drive bays, or a newer processor architecture should look at a different platform.
The pair of twelve-core processors sets the maximum physical core count at 24 and the base frequency at 2.3GHz. This combination determines the virtualisation density and licensing costs for the workloads the server can run. All other specifications scale around this processor choice.

Other versions of this model
The server occupies 1U of rack space and provides 8 SFF bays for 2.5-inch SAS drives.
The H240ar plugs into the dedicated internal slot; the step often missed is enabling the controller in UEFI before creating RAID volumes.
The board accepts 2400MT/s ECC Registered DDR4 DIMMs of 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB, up to 24 slots total.
