2U rack server with single 12-core 2.3 GHz Xeon, 128 GB DDR4, dual 146 GB 15K SAS drives and P440 4 GB FBWC RAID
The HP ProLiant DL380 G9 is a 2U rack server built for dense compute workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670v3 twelve-core processor at 2.3GHz, 128GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory, and two 146GB 15K SAS drives managed by a Smart Array P440 controller with 4GB FBWC. Dual 500W redundant hot-swap power supplies are included.
The chassis supports a maximum of two processors but only one is installed; verify the second socket kit and matching heatsink are available if you plan to scale beyond twelve cores. Twenty-four SFF drive bays are present and two are occupied by the supplied 146GB SAS drives; confirm your backplane and cabling match the P440 12Gb/6Gb SAS interface before adding further disks. Memory runs up to 2400MT/s dependent on the processor; all twenty-four DIMM slots are currently populated to reach the 128GB installed capacity.
The P440 4GB flash-backed write cache absorbs sustained random write bursts without draining battery-backed cache, keeping latency predictable during long database or virtualisation runs. Dual 500W redundant supplies maintain full operation if one unit fails or a feed is lost, preventing throttling under continuous multi-core load. The 15K SAS spindles deliver consistent IOPS for sequential and mixed workloads, while the Matrox G200eH2 graphics handle remote management without consuming compute resources.

Other versions of this model
The server includes one E5-2670v3 processor, 128 GB DDR4 memory, two 146 GB 15K SAS drives with trays, a P440 4 GB FBWC controller and two 500 W redundant power supplies; operating system, additional drives, trays and a second processor are not included
The installed 128 GB DDR4 already reaches the single-processor maximum of 128 GB; to expand to 3 TB you would need to add the second supported processor and populate the remaining DIMM slots
The single 12-core 2.3 GHz Xeon provides 24 threads with hyper-threading, delivering up to 36 total cores if a second processor is added for multi-threaded workloads
