2U rack server with dual 12-core Xeon CPUs at 2.3 GHz, 16 GB DDR4, H240ar RAID controller and eight 2.5-inch drive bays
Installed Memory Size 16GB
HDD None
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server equipped with two twelve-core Intel Xeon E5-2670v3 processors running at 2.3GHz. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 24 DIMM slots. The platform targets virtualisation hosts, database nodes and compute clusters that need high core density in a standard rack footprint.
The integrated Smart HBA H240ar provides 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA connectivity with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support. Eight small-form-factor drive bays accept 2.5-inch drives; trays and screws are included. Two hot-swap 500W redundant power supplies free the builder from single-point power failures while leaving PCIe slots available for additional networking or acceleration cards.
Moving from a single-processor server doubles thread count to 48 with hyper-threading and raises maximum memory capacity to 3TB. The jump is worth it when workloads exceed the memory or core limits of earlier single-socket systems. Buyers who need NVMe boot drives or more than eight front bays without adding secondary chassis should look elsewhere.
