2U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2630v3 processors, 16 GB DDR4 memory and two 500 GB SATA drives on a B140i RAID controller
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server designed for data-centre workloads that require dual-processor performance. It ships with two Xeon E5-2630v3 eight-core CPUs running at 2.4 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays and includes redundant hot-swap power supplies for continuous operation.
The server uses a B140i software RAID controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 on SATA drives only. Two 500 GB 7.2K SATA drives are installed in hot-swap trays, allowing drive replacement without downtime. The 24 DIMM slots are split evenly between the two processors, and the Matrox G200eH2 graphics provides basic video output for management consoles.
This unit supports DDR4 ECC registered modules up to 64 GB per slot, with actual speed dependent on the installed processors. The B140i controller does not support SAS or NVME drives, so any storage expansion must use SATA media. Buyers who need hardware RAID, NVME boot drives or more than eight internal bays should verify that the optional universal media bay or additional SFF cages meet their requirements.
