2U rack server with dual 12-core Xeon processors, 16 GB DDR4 ECC memory, two 1 TB SATA drives and B140i RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 16GB
HDD 2 x 1TB
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Xeon E5-2670 v3 processors. Each CPU provides 12 cores at 2.3GHz, yielding 24 physical cores and 48 threads with hyper-threading. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the 24 DIMM slots. This configuration targets organisations consolidating virtual machines or running memory-intensive databases.
The chassis offers eight small-form-factor drive bays populated with two 1TB 7.2K SATA drives. The embedded B140i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for SATA devices only. Twenty-two additional DIMM slots and up to 16 further drive bays remain available through optional bay kits. Two redundant hot-swap 500W power supplies maintain uptime during module replacement. A Matrox G200eH2 provides basic video output for management consoles.
Dual 500W power supplies share the load and allow hot replacement without downtime. The 2U rack form factor uses front-to-rear cooling optimised for standard data-centre aisles. Acoustic output is typical for dual-socket rack servers under sustained compute load. Power draw scales with CPU utilisation and the number of installed drives and memory modules.

Other versions of this model
Eight small-form-factor bays are present; two are occupied by the supplied 1 TB drives, leaving six empty bays for additional 2.5" SATA or SAS drives.
Each supply is rated at 500 W, giving 500 W total capacity with full N+N redundancy for the dual Xeon E5-2670 v3 configuration.
The system provides 24 DDR4 slots, 12 per processor; with 16 GB factory-installed, the remaining slots are available for registered ECC modules up to 2400 MT/s.
