2U rack server with a single Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core 1.9 GHz processor, 8 GB DDR4, eight 146 GB 15 K SAS drives and an H240ar RAID controller
This 2U rack server ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor running at 1.9 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. It includes eight 146 GB 15 K SAS drives managed by a Smart HBA H240ar controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The chassis provides eight small-form-factor drive bays and dual 500 W redundant hot-swap power supplies.
Verify that your rack can accommodate a 2U unit and that your power distribution units deliver the correct connectors for the redundant supplies. The H240ar controller uses SAS and SATA interfaces; confirm your backplane or cabling matches those standards. Memory expansion uses DDR4 ECC registered DIMMs up to 2400 MT/s across 24 slots, so plan module purchases accordingly. Additional processors require the same socket and chipset generation.
Under continuous workloads the dual 500 W redundant power supplies share the load to maintain uptime if one unit fails. The 15 K SAS drives deliver consistent throughput for random I/O patterns typical of database or virtualisation tasks. The H240ar controller offloads RAID parity calculations without a dedicated cache, so sustained write performance depends on the stripe configuration chosen. Cooling is designed for 2U density with both processors installed.

Other versions of this model
Eight 146 GB 15K SAS drives are installed in the eight SFF bays; trays are included with those drives. The redundant 500 W power supplies are fitted, so no extra power modules are required.
The board supports up to two E5-2600 v3 CPUs; the unit ships with one six-core 1.9 GHz processor. Adding a second CPU doubles core count to 12 and unlocks the second set of 12 DIMM slots for memory beyond 8 GB.
RAID 5 across eight 146 GB 6 Gbps SAS drives yields roughly 1 TB usable space with single-drive fault tolerance; the H240ar controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for other layouts.
