2U rack server with a six-core 1.9 GHz Xeon, 64 GB DDR4, H240ar RAID controller and eight SFF drive bays
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server designed for data-centre workloads that need redundant power and internal storage density. It ships with a single six-core Xeon E5-2609 v3 processor running at 1.9GHz and 64GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots. The Smart HBA H240ar controller provides 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA connectivity with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support.
This configuration suits administrators who want a ready-to-deploy chassis with eight 2.5-inch drive bays and dual 500W hot-swap power supplies. It is not suited for buyers who need a second processor installed, because only one CPU is populated and the board supports a maximum of two. Organisations requiring pre-installed operating systems or solid-state drives should also look elsewhere, as the unit arrives without drives and without an OS.
The installed 64GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory represents the maximum capacity supported by this specific processor, and the memory speed is limited to 2400MT/s by the CPU capability. The 24 DIMM slots allow future expansion only if a second processor is added, but the current single-CPU configuration cannot address more than 64GB. Verify that your workload fits within this memory ceiling before ordering.

Other versions of this model
The Smart HBA H240ar controller supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 and will appear in the system BIOS or UEFI during POST; you can also confirm it in the iLO management interface once the server is powered on.
The unit ships with a single E5-2609 v3 six-core 1.9 GHz processor, 64 GB DDR4 ECC registered memory, the H240ar 12 Gb SAS / 6 Gb SATA RAID controller, two 500 W redundant hot-swap power supplies, and eight 2.5-inch SFF drive trays with screws; no drives, operating system, or additional processors are included.
With one E5-2609 v3 processor installed, the maximum supported memory is 64 GB across 12 DIMM slots; the server already has 64 GB fitted, so no further memory can be added unless a second processor is installed to unlock the remaining 12 slots.
