A 2U rack server with one Xeon E5-2630 v3 2.4GHz 8-core CPU, 48GB DDR4, two 1TB 7.2K SAS drives and an H240ar RAID controller
This HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack-mount server system built for data-centre workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4GHz and 48GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. Two 1TB 7.2K 2.5-inch SAS drives and an H240ar Smart HBA provide RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60. Dual 500W hot-swap power supplies deliver redundancy.
This configuration suits buyers who need a single-socket server with redundant power and hardware RAID on SAS drives. It does not suit buyers who want a second processor installed, NVMe boot drives, or a GPU for compute workloads. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics controller provides basic display output only. Memory is fixed at 48GB in this unit.
The storage subsystem centres on the HP Smart HBA H240ar, a 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA RAID controller supporting RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60. The chassis includes eight small-form-factor drive bays populated with two 1TB SAS drives. Additional bays can be added for up to 24 SFF drives, but NVMe options occupy a separate bay and are not included.

Other versions of this model
The installed 1 TB 7.2K drives run at 6 Gbps SAS even though the H240ar supports 12 Gbps SAS.
Two of the eight SFF bays hold the 1 TB SAS drives; six bays remain empty for expansion.
Install the second Xeon E5-2630 v3, then populate its 12 DIMM slots with DDR4 ECC registered modules to keep 12 slots per CPU.
