M.2 wireless adapter adds 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 to a desktop
This M.2 wireless adapter uses the Realtek RTL8821CE-CG single chip to provide 802.11ac Wi-Fi with 1-stream Multi-user MIMO and integrated Bluetooth 2.1, 3.0 and 4.2 connectivity. It suits desktop builders adding wireless networking to a compatible motherboard slot.
The card upgrades a system that lacks built-in Wi-Fi or replaces a failed module using the same M.2 keying. The jump is worth it when a wired connection is impractical and the motherboard exposes a supported M.2 interface for WLAN.
Installation requires an M.2 slot wired for PCIe Wi-Fi and USB Bluetooth signals. The single-chip design frees board space by combining radio, baseband and MAC functions without extra antennas or separate Bluetooth hardware.

The card uses an M.2 interface with a Realtek RTL8821CE-CG chip that combines WLAN MAC, 1T1R baseband and RF in a single package, so it fits a standard M.2 key E or key A slot.
The 1T1R design needs one IPEX/U.FL antenna lead connected to the single RF port on the RTL8821CE-CG; without it the 802.11ac link will not function.
The antenna pigtail can loosen from vibration or heat cycles, so reseat it during any internal service; the card itself has no moving parts and only needs replacement if the RTL8821CE-CG fails.
