Smart Tank 6003 all-in-one

The HP Smart Tank 6003 is a cartridge-free inkjet printer built for families and home offices that print colour documents and photos in high volumes. Refillable tanks replace traditional cartridges and the box includes enough ink for up to three years of use. Setup is the fastest among tank printers, averaging 52 per cent less time than competitors. HP AI features simplify everyday print, scan and copy tasks.

Thermals noise and power

The printer operates at normal household power levels and runs quietly during typical document and photo jobs. Ink tank design eliminates cartridge heating cycles, keeping surface temperatures low during extended print sessions. No specific acoustic or wattage figures are provided by the supplier.

Upgrade path and value

This model replaces cartridge-based inkjets where frequent supply runs and high per-page costs are a frustration. The jump is worth it for users who want up to three years of ink included and the easiest tank setup on the market. Buyers who need a dedicated photo lab printer or high-speed office workgroup device should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I set up the HP Smart Tank 6003 and what step do users often miss?

Fill the ink tanks using the included HP 32XL black bottle (135 ml) and the HP 31 cyan, magenta and yellow bottles (70 ml each) before turning the printer on; skipping this step prevents the initial priming cycle from completing.

Which ink bottles will I need to buy again once the starter supply runs out?

Reorder HP 32XL 135-ml black (1VV24AE) and HP 31 70-ml cyan (1VU26AE), magenta (1VU27AE) and yellow (1VU28AE) bottles; the box includes one of each to last up to three years.

What limits print speed during a long batch of colour pages?

The refillable tank system delivers the fastest setup in its class — 52 % quicker than competitors — but sustained colour throughput is still governed by the inkjet print head’s native cycle time.
