HP Z420 Xeon workstation

The HP Z420 is a tower workstation built around an Intel Xeon E5-1620 quad-core processor running at 3.7 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR3 ECC memory and a 500 GB SATA hard-drive array. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Standard tower assembly

The unit uses a conventional tower chassis with a single power supply and front bezel already fitted. Memory installs in standard DIMM slots and the two 3.5-inch drive bays accept SATA disks. The Quadro FX570 graphics card occupies a PCI Express slot and provides dual-monitor output.

Suited to legacy ECC workloads

This configuration suits users who need ECC memory and certified drivers for older professional applications. Buyers who want more storage, faster solid-state storage or a modern GPU architecture should look at something else.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the NVIDIA Quadro FX570 256MB video card is recognised after installing Windows 10 Pro 64-bit?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, and verify NVIDIA Quadro FX570 appears with 256MB dedicated memory and no error icons.

What components are included and which upgrades need separate purchase?

The tower ships with Xeon E5-1620 3.7GHz CPU, 8GB DDR3 ECC memory, two 250GB SATA HDDs, DVD-ROM, NVIDIA Quadro FX570 card, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and front bezel; additional DDR3 ECC modules or SATA SSDs must be bought separately.

Should I choose the single 8GB DDR3 1866MHz module or add a matching stick for dual-channel performance?

The workstation includes one 8GB DDR3 1866MHz ECC module; adding an identical 8GB DDR3 1866MHz ECC stick enables dual-channel bandwidth for memory-intensive workloads.
