Dual Xeon E5-2698 v3 Workstation

The HP Z840 tower delivers 32 cores at 2.30 GHz across two Xeon E5-2698 v3 processors. It targets engineers, designers and data specialists who need a certified platform for CAD, rendering and multi-application workloads. Preinstalled Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is ready for immediate professional use.

Sustained Multi-Core Throughput

Dual-socket architecture distributes long-running simulations, batch renders and large dataset processing across all 32 cores without the thermal throttling common in single-socket designs. The 256 GB DDR4 memory pool keeps entire project assets resident, eliminating swap delays during extended sessions. Quadro M2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 drives four DisplayPort outputs for stable multi-monitor visualisation over many hours.

256 GB DDR4 Capacity Decides Fit

Sixteen memory slots are fully populated, so the installed 256 GB is also the ceiling unless modules are replaced. Buyers who need more than 256 GB of RAM must plan a full memory swap, while those whose datasets fit within this limit gain a ready-to-run workstation with fast 512 GB SSD primary storage and 1 TB HDD secondary capacity.

Questions about this item

How loud does the dual Xeon E5-2698 v3 configuration run under sustained 32-core load?

The workstation uses HP's engineered thermal solution for the Z840 chassis; dual 16-core processors at 2.30 GHz are cooled by redundant fans that ramp up only when core temperatures require it, keeping acoustic output low for office environments.

Which display cables do I need to connect four monitors to the Quadro M2000?

The card provides four native DisplayPort outputs; use four DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cables or appropriate DisplayPort-to-HDMI/DVI adapters for your monitors — no additional graphics hardware is required.

Will my existing DDR4 ECC RDIMMs work alongside the installed 256 GB?

The system has 16 DIMM slots total; any registered ECC DDR4 modules you add must match the existing speed and rank configuration per processor to maintain stability across both CPUs.
