A 96-port modular Gigabit Ethernet switch module with integrated PoE on all 10/100/1000Base-T ports and 10-GbE capability
The HPE ProCurve 5412zl-96G is a modular Ethernet switch built on a programmable ProVision ASIC. It delivers 96 Gigabit Ethernet ports with integrated PoE on every 10/100/1000Base-T interface. The chassis supports 10-GbE uplinks and multiple form-factor choices for flexible deployment. It targets organisations that need granular QoS and security at the network edge.
The switch operates as a standard rack-mounted Ethernet appliance with typical enterprise power draw. Fan noise is consistent with managed chassis switches in wiring closets. No abnormal thermal behaviour is reported under usual office or data-centre loads. Power consumption scales with the number of active PoE ports and installed line modules.
This module replaces fixed-configuration Gigabit switches when port density must grow beyond a single appliance. The jump is worth it when you need modular expansion slots, integrated PoE on all copper ports, or 10-GbE uplink flexibility. It is not for buyers who require only a few access ports or who lack rack space for a modular chassis.

Slide the module into an empty chassis slot until the ejector levers click, then tighten the captive screws; the step often missed is fully seating the backplane connector before securing the screws.
The module itself has no user-replaceable parts; plan to replace the chassis power supplies and fan trays per HPE lifecycle guidelines, and keep firmware current on the ProVision ASIC.
The 96-port module shares the chassis backplane bandwidth, so total aggregate throughput across all slots is the first bottleneck when every port runs at 1000 Mbps continuously.
