HPE InfiniBand HBA 40 Gbit/s dual-port

The HPE 583211-B21 is a plug-in InfiniBand Host Bus Adapter that adds two expansion slots to a server or workstation. Each port delivers a 40 Gbit/s data transfer rate over a PCI Express 2.0 x8 host interface. The card is supplied in new condition.

Suited to dual-port 40 Gbit/s InfiniBand links

This adapter fits builds that need exactly two InfiniBand connections at 40 Gbit/s through a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot. It does not serve buyers who require a single-port card, a different host interface, or a higher transfer rate than the specified 40 Gbit/s.

PCI Express 2.0 x8 host interface requirement

The card installs only in a PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot, so the motherboard must provide that exact interface. Verify slot availability and generation compatibility before purchase, as other slot types will not accept this adapter.

Questions about this item

Does my server need a free PCIe 2.0 x8 slot for this HPE 583211-B21 adapter?

Yes, the card installs in a PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot and occupies one expansion slot.

Will the two 40 Gbit/s InfiniBand ports interoperate with older DDR or QDR equipment I keep?

The adapter runs at 40 Gbit/s per port; compatibility with slower InfiniBand gear depends on the switch and cable specifications you use.

How can I verify the card is operating at 40 Gbit/s after installation?

Check the link status in your OS or HPE management tools — each port should report a 40 Gbit/s active connection.
