1GB FBWC DDR3 MiniDIMM module

This 1 GB Flash Backed Write Cache module uses DDR3 SDRAM in a 72-bit wide MiniDIMM form factor. It provides flash-backed data protection for RAID controller cache memory. The unit is designed for HPE Smart Array P420 and P421 controllers.

For P420 and P421 Smart Array upgrades

This cache module suits administrators upgrading or replacing the FBWC on supported HPE Smart Array controllers. It is not suitable for servers requiring a different capacity, a different form factor, or controllers outside the P420 and P421 compatibility list.

1 GB DDR3 cache capacity

The memory size is 1 GB using DDR3 SDRAM technology. This capacity determines the amount of write data that can be flash-backed during a power loss event. Verify the required cache size for your specific controller configuration before purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1GB FBWC module or a different capacity for my P420 controller?

The 1GB FBWC module is the standard cache size supported by the P420 and P421 Smart Array controllers.

What does the 72-bit DDR3 width mean for write performance on a P421?

The 72-bit DDR3 interface provides ECC-protected bandwidth to absorb write bursts before flash backup occurs.

Does the MiniDIMM form factor limit which Smart Array controllers can use this cache?

The MiniDIMM form factor fits only the P420 and P421 Smart Array controllers listed in the compatibility data.
