Data-centre edge switching

The HPE ProCurve 6600-24G is a Layer 3 switch built on a programmable ProVision ASIC for scalable quality of service and security enforcement. It provides 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports and four SFP expansion slots for fibre uplinks.

Suitable for managed aggregation

Network teams that need a manageable, rack-mountable core switch with redundant power supply support will find the feature set matches data-centre server-edge requirements. Environments requiring higher port density or different media types should evaluate alternative platforms.

Layer 3 routing capability

The switch operates at Layer 4 with full Layer 3 routing support, enabling inter-VLAN routing and advanced traffic policies without external routers. This single specification determines whether the module fits the intended network design.

Questions about this item

Will the 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports auto-negotiate with my older 10/100 devices?

Yes, each port supports 10/100/1000Base-T so legacy devices connect at their highest rated speed.

How can I confirm the ProVision ASIC is forwarding Layer 3 traffic correctly after installation?

Check the management interface for routing table entries and interface counters showing bidirectional packet flow on active VLANs.

Does the J9263A ship with SFP transceivers for the four shared expansion slots?

The switch includes the four SFP slots; compatible transceivers must be purchased separately for fibre or copper uplinks.
