HPE 6TB SAS 12G Business Critical Drive

This HPE internal hard drive provides 6TB of storage over a 12G SAS interface. It spins at 7.2K RPM in a 3.5 inch LFF low-profile form factor and uses 512E sector formatting. The unit is supplied new and carries the SLC NAND flash memory type. It is identified by part numbers 846998-B21 and 847036-001.

Best for High-Capacity SAS Arrays

This drive suits servers and storage arrays that require 6TB capacity on a 12G SAS bus with 7.2K RPM spindle speed. Buyers who need a different capacity, a faster spindle speed, or a non-SAS interface should look at other models. It is not intended for systems that cannot accept a 3.5 inch LFF low-profile SAS drive.

Questions about this item

Does my server backplane need to support SAS 12G for this 6TB drive to operate at full speed?

Yes, a SAS 12G backplane or controller is required to reach the 12G transfer rate; the drive will negotiate down on slower links.

Will this 3.5-inch LFF drive fit in the same drive bays as my existing 7.2K SAS drives?

Yes, it uses the standard 3.5-inch LFF low-profile form factor, so it occupies the same bay space as other 7.2K LFF SAS drives.
