800 GB SAS enterprise SSD

This 800 GB solid-state drive uses a 2.5 inch form factor and a 12 Gb/s SAS interface. It is built with SLC NAND flash for mixed-use workloads in HPE Gen8 and Gen9 servers. The drive targets IT teams that need consistent write endurance for databases and virtualisation.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

Enterprise SAS SSDs of this class draw only a few watts during typical mixed-use operation. With no moving parts the drive runs silently inside a server chassis. Standard server airflow is sufficient to keep temperatures within specification.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2.5 SAS drive into a G8 or G9 server and what step is often missed?

Slide the 2.5 drive into the hot-plug bay until the carrier clicks, then secure the latch; the step often missed is fully engaging the SAS connector so the 12G link negotiates correctly.

What maintenance will the 800 GB SLC SSD require over its service life?

No routine maintenance is needed for the SLC NAND; monitor SMART wear indicators and replace the drive when the media-wear metric approaches the rated limit.
