HPE 800 GB SAS mixed-use drive

The HPE 872506-001 is an 800 GB solid state drive built for mixed-use workloads. It uses a 12Gb/s SAS interface in a 2.5 inch internal form factor and includes a drive carrier. The unit is compatible with HPE StoreEasy 1860 storage systems.

Build integration with SAS backplane

This drive slots into a 2.5 inch bay that supports 12Gb/s SAS signalling. The included carrier secures the module in hot-swap trays or fixed cages. A SAS backplane or controller and compatible power cables are required to complete the installation.

Suited for balanced read-write arrays

The mixed-use endurance rating targets workloads with roughly equal read and write activity such as databases or virtualisation volumes. Buyers needing higher write endurance or larger capacities should evaluate other models. Systems without SAS infrastructure cannot use this drive.

Questions about this item

How long will the mixed-use 800 GB SAS drive sustain writes before endurance becomes the limit?

The drive is rated for mixed-use endurance, meaning it balances read and write cycles for typical server workloads without a single published write limit.

Does the 12Gb/s SAS drive run hot or loud during continuous operation?

As a solid-state drive with no moving parts it produces minimal noise and heat compared to mechanical disks.

Which controller or backplane is required to use this 2.5" SAS drive?

It requires a 12Gb/s SAS backplane or HBA and is validated for the HPE StoreEasy 1860 Storage System.
