Replacing unmanaged or lightly managed switches adds static routing, ACLs, robust QoS and IPv6 support. The jump is worth it when traffic prioritisation, sFlow visibility or colourless ports with local MAC authentication reduce manual moves, adds and changes. A dedicated ASIC provides low latency of 1.9 µSec at 1 Gbps and 1.8 µSec at 10 Gbps with 98.6 Mpps throughput.

890 W PoE budget and 176 Gbps fabric

The 890 W PoE budget powers all 48 ports simultaneously at Class 4 levels, while the 176 Gbps switching capacity handles aggregation uplinks. Dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 at 1016 MHz with 4 GB DDR3 and 16 GB eMMC runs the AOS-CX operating system. Maximum system draw is 49.7 W. Networks needing Layer 3 routing stacks or higher PoE classes will need a different platform.
