Connects two SFP+ ports at 1.25 GB/s over 9.84 ft for Aruba 8320 switches
The HPE Aruba J9283D is a 10G SFP+ direct-attach copper cable built for short-reach links between compatible Aruba switches. It suits network engineers who need a fixed-length, low-latency interconnect without separate transceivers or fibre patch cords. The 3 metre reach fits typical rack-adjacent connections in a data centre row.
Because the assembly uses passive copper twinax, it draws no power and generates no heat beyond the connector interface, so sustained 10G line-rate traffic does not degrade signal quality over time. There are no active components to age or require firmware updates, making long-term behaviour predictable in a permanently cabled rack. The 1.25 GB/s data rate is maintained across the full 9.84 ft length.
The single specification that determines suitability is the factory-terminated SFP+ connectors on both ends at a fixed 3 metre length; the cable cannot be shortened, extended or converted to another connector type. Buyers who need a different reach, fibre media or breakout configurations must select a different part number.

As a passive direct-attach copper cable the J9283D draws no external power and produces negligible heat during all-day 10 Gbps operation.
Both ends require an SFP+ network port; the cable plugs directly into two SFP+ slots on switches, servers or NICs.
The cable is built for 10 G SFP+ links and is not guaranteed to operate at 1 Gbps with legacy SFP modules.
