Compact dual-band access point

The JW327A is an Aruba Instant IAP-325 built for indoor wireless coverage on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It supports 802.11n and 802.11ac clients in a single white chassis. The unit targets small to mid-size offices that need controller-less deployment.

Steady throughput across two radios

Both radios operate simultaneously to balance client load between the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands during sustained traffic. The Instant architecture distributes management tasks across the access points themselves, avoiding a central controller bottleneck. Performance scales as more IAP-325 units are added to the same virtual controller cluster.

802.11ac wave 2 support decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the 802.11ac capability on the 5 GHz radio. Buyers whose client devices only support 802.11n will not gain the higher modulation rates this model provides. Environments requiring 802.11ax or later should select a different platform.

Questions about this item

How does the JW327A manage heat during continuous dual-band operation?

The compact form factor uses passive cooling to dissipate heat from the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios without a fan.

What network infrastructure must exist for the IAP-325 to function?

A wired Ethernet connection to a switch or router is required to provide backhaul and Power over Ethernet for the access point.

Will the 802.11n/ac radios on the 325 interoperate with legacy 802.11g devices?

Yes, the 2.4 GHz radio supports older 802.11n clients while the 5 GHz radio serves 802.11ac devices simultaneously.
