Dual-Port 10GbE Server Adapter

The HPE G2 card adds two 10GBase-X ports to a server or workstation through a PCI Express slot. It targets administrators who need to upgrade existing rack or tower systems with high-speed wired connectivity.

Thermals and Power Profile

The plug-in card draws power directly from the PCI Express bus without an external connector. Its low-profile bracket fits standard server chassis airflow paths and the WEEE certification confirms compliance with electronic-waste regulations.

Included SFP+ Flexibility

Each port uses an SFP+ cage so you can choose the transceiver that matches your cabling — short-range, long-range or direct-attach copper. No transceivers are bundled, letting you purchase only the optics your link distances require.

Questions about this item

How do I install the HPE 516937-B21 card and what step is often missed?

Insert the card into a PCI Express slot, then fit SFP+ modules into the two ports before cabling; the missed step is forgetting the SFP+ transceivers, which are not included.

What maintenance or replacement will the HPE G2 Dual Port 10GbE card need over time?

The SFP+ transceivers and fibre or copper cables are the only replaceable parts; the card itself has no moving components or firmware that requires routine servicing.

What limit appears first on the HPE 516937-B21 under sustained 10 GbE loads?

The PCI Express host interface and the two SFP+ ports set the hard ceiling at 10 Gbps per port, so sustained throughput cannot exceed that line rate.
