HPE JD229B 48-Port PoE+ Expansion Module

The HPE JD229B is a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet expansion module that delivers Power over Ethernet Plus through every RJ-45 connector. It is designed for data-networking environments that need to add high-density powered ports to a compatible chassis.

Network teams expanding H3C A7500 switches

This module suits administrators who need to connect up to 48 PoE+ devices such as access points or IP phones to an H3C A7500 series switch. It is not for teams running other switch platforms or those who require fiber uplinks or multi-gigabit speeds beyond 1000Base-T.

Slot-in installation for A7500 chassis

The module slides into an available expansion slot on the H3C A7500 and is recognised without additional licensing. The main risk is inserting it into an unsupported chassis or exceeding the switch's total PoE power budget, which will leave ports unpowered.

Questions about this item

Which switch chassis must I already have to install the JD229B 48-port PoE+ module?

The module is compatible only with the H3C A7500 Switch Series, so you need an available slot in one of those chassis.

Will the 48 RJ-45 1000Base-T PoE ports negotiate down to 100 Mbps for legacy devices I keep?

Yes, each port supports 1000Base-T and will auto-negotiate to lower speeds for older endpoints while still delivering PoE+ power.

How can I confirm the module is operating correctly after inserting it in the A7500 chassis?

Check the switch CLI for the module to show as online, verify all 48 ports report link status and PoE power delivery, and confirm traffic passes at Gigabit Ethernet rates.
