A 1U firewall appliance with 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 4 GB RAM and 8 GB storage, delivering 5 Gbps firewall and 977 Mbps IPSec VPN throughput
The Juniper Networks SRX345 services gateway combines firewall, routing, switching and WAN connectivity in a single 1U appliance. Sixteen onboard 1GbE ports provide LAN and WAN density for branch offices. Four gigabytes of system memory and eight gigabytes of storage support the Junos software base feature set including NAT, IPSec VPN and MPLS.
Stateful firewall throughput reaches 2,300 Mbps with IMIX packet sizes and 5,500 Mbps with 1,518-byte packets. Routing performance is rated at 750 Kpps for 64-byte packets. IPSec VPN throughput peaks at 977 Mbps, which caps encrypted site-to-site or remote-access workloads.
The fixed sixteen 1GbE interfaces cannot be expanded with additional copper density. Organisations requiring higher port counts, 10GbE uplinks or redundant power supplies must evaluate larger SRX models. The external AC power supply also removes internal redundancy.

The SRX345-SYS-JB provides 16 onboard 1GbE ports, 4 GB RAM and 8 GB storage in a 1U chassis; other SRX300 models such as the SRX300 have fewer ports and lower throughput, so select this model when you need the full 16-port density and up to 5 Gbps firewall performance.
With 1,518-byte packets the routing throughput reaches 5,500 Mbps; with IMIX traffic it sustains 2,300 Mbps, and with 64-byte packets it processes 750 Kpps, so actual throughput depends on your typical packet size mix.
All 16 ports are 1 GbE, giving a maximum aggregate line-rate of 16 Gbps, but the firewall engine is rated at 5 Gbps, so the effective throughput cap for inspected traffic is 5 Gbps regardless of how many ports are active.
